This workshop is FREE to all active duty military and veterans. Workshop will be be located at Cornerstone Tiny Homes and tools generously provided by Milwaukee Tool.

Course Overview
This 3-day workshop will teach a basic understanding of the entire construction process from the foundation to the finishing trim. Participants will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience and become proficient with all tools common in home construction. Veterans will learn about different types of building materials, the order of operation, and how each step effects the next, all the way through the project. We will cover advanced skills such as reading and comprehending blue prints, foundation preparation, framing layout, structural considerations, understanding basic electrical, plumbing applications, and general tiny home design concepts.

When constructing a tiny home we use all the same tools and go through all the same steps as constructing a large home, only the project is expedited into a much shorter time frame. You get to witness how each step effects the next and hopefully gain a decent comprehension of the entire building process. For more experienced builders there is always opportunity to partake in the aspects that you have less experience with as well as the ever-present challenges with space, requiring creative solutions. Once a person has a good understanding of how homes are constructed as well as a command on the use of the tools required, they have not only a valuable job skill-set, but also a pathway to creating ones own affordable housing solution." - Zack Giffin
